How to Play

The goal is to place your boule closer to the cochonnet (target ball) than your opponent. Each player needs 2 to 3 boules, and the game can be played 1-on-1 (Tête-à-tête), 2-on-2 (Doublette), or 3-on-3 (Triplette). Players take turns. After all boules have been played, the team scores one point for each boule that is closer to the cochonnet than the opponent’s closest one.

Variant 1: Classic Mariole

• Play until 9 points (instead of 13)
• The team without a point continues to play until they regain it
• Points are awarded for each boule closer than the opponent’s best

Variant 2: Mariole des Fadas

• Also played to 9 points
• Each direct hit on the cochonnet earns 1 bonus point
• Designed for creative and offensive gameplay
